Chapter 01 | 2000 to 2006

The Web
is the
playground.

A blank browser. A text editor. Adobe Flash. A problem worth solving. That was enough.

"The web was new, messy, and full of unsolved problems. The instinct was to build on it."
2000
First line of code
Started building for the web. Raw HTML, CSS, JavaScript, followed by ActionScript, then PHP. Multimedia Websites was "The Thing" in the 2000s.
2002
Corporate Websites and webbased backoffice tools
Plain code, no good frameworks yet existed. Projects meant handcrafting.
2003
Attracted to HR processes
While building websites, I got draged into HR processes behind the clients. The hiring, the employer branding, the candidate matching — all the human elements that mattered.
2005
And an Idea was born.
After working at a staffing agency and seeing countless applicants return either frustrated or overjoyed with their employers, I knew I had to make a difference — the idea for a review platform was born.
Chapter 02 | 2006 to 2011

From
coder
to
product.

The code is not enough.

"A product is more than code. It's a solution to a problem. The best builders solve the problem, not just the code."
On the transition
Went deep on search — organic and paid. From building ten thousands of SEO landingpages to spending +25k per month on paid campaigns.
Bridge skill acquired
Fluent in both product reality and engineering constraints.
Best combination ever.

Stepped into Platform Product Management, SEO, SEM, project and release management — not to escape engineering, but to multiply it. Learned to translate between what users need and what teams can build, without losing either side.

Chapter 03 | 2011 to 2015

From
builder
to leader.

The most impactful place wasn't inside the code. It was around the people building it.

"The best engineers don't stop building. They build people, processes, and products — all at once."
On the transition
UX Masterclass
Design thinking, user research and prototyping. From print to digital and beyond.
Head of Project Management
Led delivery across multiple products. Steering the success and profitability of products.

Stepped into UX and project management leadership — taking control of the product's success, not just the code. Learned that the most impactful place to be was around the people building it, not just inside the code.

Chapter 04 | 2015 to Now

Leading
at scale.

Head of a Section. Multiple lead teams and areas. 15-30 engineers. Everything into one vision.

Teams streamlined

Responsible not just for delivery — but for the growth of the people doing it.
Scrum Master when teams needed structure. Product Owner when products needed direction and pushing Scaled Agile to the best it can deliver.

Being redundant was not a risk, but a goal. The best leaders make themselves unnecessary - by building strong teams, clear processes, and successful products that can thrive without them.
Freeing to focus on the next challenge.

Always curious about the next chapter, but proud of the one being written now. Want to have details? Get in contact with me or check out my LinkedIn.

"Senior engineers prevent unnecessary code. Good leaders prevent unnecessary confusion. Both are about knowing when not to act."
